Private James Dickson, 2nd Battalion, Scots Guards. He died from wounds in France, aged, 32, on the 29th March 1915. He had been born in Ashkirk and was the son of the late John and Margaret Dickson and the husband of Annie Dickson of Killam, Alberta, Canada. He had been a Regular Soldier in the Scots Guards for several years and after leaving joined the Reserves. In 1912 he emigrated to Canada and on the outbreak of War he was recalled to his old Regiment. He was wounded whilst digging trenches and died in hospital being buried in Rue-Du-Bacquerot ( 13th London ) Graveyard, Laventie, France. ( Private Dickson is not listed on the Memorial but as he was born in Ashkirk we have listed him here ).
