Corporal Adam Cowan, 17th Coy., Machine Gun Corps. He was killed in Belgium, aged 23, on the 9th June 1917. He was the brother of Isabella Cowan, Nichol of Kays Muir, Duns and is buried in Brandhoek Military Cemetery, near Ypres, Flanders, Belgium. The M.G.C. used the Vickers Mk. 2 water cooled gun in both offensive and defensive roles.
