Private Arthur Alfred Scheurer, 2nd/7th ( Territorial ) Battalion, Manchester Regiment. He was killed in action in France on 21st March 1918 on the first day of the German Spring Offensive ( Operation Michael ) and is commemorated on the Pozieres Memorial, Pozieres, France. The photographs show Allied troops preparing to resist the advancing Germans.
