Robert Bruce was born in Berwick, his father John Bruce was boen in Tweedmoth in 1807.
In 1881 he was married to Janet and was living in 19 Duns road and was a painter and paperhanger

Commentary
Robert E Bruce was born in Eridland, Berwick On Tweed. In 1901 they were living in 56 High Street East and his occupation was a House Decorator. His wife Janet was born in Ladykirk. in 1901 2 son’s living at home John and Alex both are decorators age 22 and 23.
