BORDER AGRICULTURIST’S DEATH

The death of Mr Thomas Scott, of East Lilburn Farm, has removed a prominent Border agriculturist. A Scotchman, he acted as a factor to a gentleman in Yorkshire before taking the farm of East Lilburn some 14 years ago, and since entering into occupation here he proved himself one of the best cultivators and cattle breeders in the North. Amongst farmers, Mr Scott was respected for his uprightness of character and fairness in dealing. He leaves two daughters and a son.
