Sergeant Robert Renton, 2nd Battalion, Seaforth Highlanders. He was killed in action on 3rd November 1942 during the Second Battle of El Alamein aged 24. He was the son of Thomas and Jeannie Blair Renton of Coldstream and is buried in El Alamein War Cemetery, Egypt. He is not commemorated on the Coldstream Memorial but as his parents lived in the Town we feel his name should be included here). The photographs show men of the 51st ( Highland ) Division, of which the Battalion was part, in the desert.
