Private James Hislop, 11th ( Service ) Battalion, Royal Scots. He was killed in action in France, aged 38, on the 9th April 1917 on the first day of the Battle of Arras. He had been born in Selkirk in 1878 and was the son of Andrew and Mary Hislop of Curror Street, Selkirk. He was the husband of Georgina Hislop of 30 Cannon Street, Selkirk and is commemorated on the Arras Memorial, Arras, France. He had originally enlisted in the 4th Battalion, K.O.S.B. but was posted to the Royal Scots in France.
