Private James Hair, 1st Battalion, Scots Guards. He was killed in action in France, aged 19, on 10th March 1918 and is buried in Fampoux British Cemetery, Cambrai, France. He had been born in Galashiels and was the son of Thomas and Agnes Hair of Edinburgh. At that time the Battalion were in support trenches near Fampoux and suffered some casualties from shelling.
