Corporal William Brown Duff, M.M., Imperial Signal Company, Royal Engineers. He died from wounds in East Africa, aged 27, on the 22nd April 1918 and is buried in Pemba Cemetery, Mozambique. He had been born in Dundee and was the son of John and the late Isabella Duff of 7 Braid Place, Edinburgh. He had been employed as a Post Office linesman when he enlisted in Galashiels in June 1915 He went to East Africa in February 1916 and was awarded the Military Medal for gallantry in the field in 1918. He was wounded in mid April 1918 and died in hospital in Medo, Portuguese East Africa.
