Kirknewton Churchyard Section E Row 6 – 5 – Hunter

 In  loving memory  of  Andrew  HUNTER  who  died  at Milfield  Jan  23rd  !929  aged 73 years. 

And  of Rachel  his  wife  who  died Nov. 4th  1932 aged  76  years.

 Also  rifleman  Robert  How  HUNTER  21st Kings Royal Rifle Corp. eldest son of the above killed in action on the  Somme. Sept.  15th !916 aged 27 years. 

Also  2nd Lieutenant  Norman  Archbold  HUNTER 7th Northumberland  Fusiliers youngest son of the above killed in action near St. Quentin.  Sept. 3rd  1917 aged 22 years.

Kirknewton Churchyard Section E Row 6 – 10 – Howey

Erected by Mary HOWEY in memory of her husband. Thomas HOWEY who died in Howtel the 22nd day of February 1816 aged 48 years.

Also 7 children who died mostly in infancy.

The above mentioned Mary HOWEY died at Calroust. Nov  1827 aged 61 years. (Other side) In memorv  of.

 Erected by Georgeas SMITH in memory of her husband George SMITH  butcher in Coldstream who died the 8th day of December 1817 aged 45 years.

Also the above mentioned Georgeas died at Coldstream. August 1842 aged 68 years.

 Sacred to the memory of George GREY Esq. of Sandyhouse who died at Milfield !st July  1791 aged 38 years.

Hannah his daughter died  18th January  1789 aged 5 years and 6 months.

Mary his wife died at  Kelso 27th August  1827 aged 68 years.

   Here lyeth  the body of James  DAVIDSON  of Lanton who departed this life March ye  27  1737  aged 101 years.

Here lyes Alexander DAVIDSON of Lanton son of ye above James DAVIDSON who died the 20th of January . Anno Domini.1743/4 aged 68 years.

Also George DAVISON of Akeld who died 18 of February 1788 aged 35 years.

Here lie the remains of George DAVIDSON of Akeld who died June 4th. 177-l aged 73 years.

Isabella his daughter who died April 2nd 1768 aged 18 years. 

Grace  his daughter  who died February  18th 1788 aged 35 years.

Isabella wife to Geo. DAVISON who died August 15 1795 aged 80.

And Dorothy his daughter who died Jany. 20 1797 aged 42.

This stone is erected  by  their  surviving children.

Andrew DAVISON. youngest son of Geo. DAVISON died Dec. 15th 1803 aged 63 years.

Alexander eldest son of Geo. DAVISON of Akeld died Oct 21 1806 aged 66

 Here lyeth the body of Dorothy DAVISON wife of Alexander DAVISON Esq. of Lanton who died 24 of November 1788 in the 78th year of her age.

Isabel daughter of George DAVIDSON of Akeld who died 2 April 1768 aged 18 years.

Also Margaret daughter of Alexander  DAVISON  Esq.  of Lanton who died 9 September 1773 aged 28 years.
