Cornhill Selby

A Selby monumental Inscription at Cornhill Deciphered by Matthew Cully and printed in the Berwickshire Naturalist in 1916

To the memory of the SELBYES of Paston GERRARD SELBY died Aug 3rd 1722 aged 35 years.

SARAH his wife died Oct 1777 aged 83 years.

GABRIEL SELBY died Oct 1785 aged 68.

ANNE his wife died June 1769 aged 50

MARGt died Febry 1788 aged 74

WILLIAM died Oct 1716 aged 1

DOROTHY died 1720 aged 9 months

GERRARD died 1721 aged 6 months.

Interior 1 – Collingwood/Dickins

Sacred to the Memory of HENRY COLLINGWOOD of LILBURN TOWER and Cornhill House, Esquire, who died July 26th 1827 aged 70 years.

MARY ANNE, widow of the above, died 17th February 1852 aged 74 years.

H.J.W. COLLINGWOOD Esquire, his eldest son, died April 14th 1840 aged 37 years.

Henry, eldest son of the above H.J.W. COLLINGWOOD, died at Cornhill, 22nd August 1936 aged 11 years.

THOMAS HAGGERSTON, fourth son of H.J.W. COLLINGWOOD, LOST AT SEA, May 9th 1859, aged 28 years.

FREDERICK, sixth son of H.J.W. COLLINGWOOD, died at Torquay, February 10th 1867 aged 29 years.

FRANCES the beloved wife of GEORGE CALDWELL DICKINS, late of the 21st R.N.B. Fusiliers and 46th Regiment, eldest daughter of H.J.W. COLLINGWOOD, died at Portobello N.B. September 14th 1867 aged 39 years.

In Loving Memory of JOHN COLLINGWOOD, Esquire, of Cornhill, Northumberland, who died Aug. 17 1896, aged 69 years; and JANE COLLINGWOOD, his wife, who died May 5, 1909.  Also of HENRY THOMAS COLLINGWOOD, who died June 13, 1889, aged 17 years; and MARY JANE COLLINGWOOD, who died Aug. 25, 1889, aged 21 years, son and daughter of the above.
