Gunner Edward Naylen

Gunner Edward Naylen , Royal Garrison Artillery. He died at South Middleton on 18th July 1919, aged 25 and was the son of Edward Naylen of Roseden, Wooler. Before enlisting he had been employed as a ploughman at South Middleton, Wooperton, Wooler. The R.G.A. used the 9.2 inch howitzer to put plunging fire on enemy strong points and trench systems. They also used the 60 pounder gun and one is shown here with its new camouflage patterns.
