Gunner Robert Elliot

Gunner Robert Elliot,” A “Battery ,51st Brigade, Royal Field Artillery. He died from wounds in France on 6th June 1917, aged 19. He had been born in Coldstream and was the son of William and Isebella Mary Elliot of 94 High Street Coldstream where they ran a chemists shop. He is buried in Aubginy Communal Cemetery Extension, France where his Headstone is inscribed ” He Is Risen “.He is also commemorated on the Eccles Memorial. The Field Artillery normally used the 18 pounder field gun in an anti infantry role using high explosive and shrapnel shells as pictured below.
