Private William Liddell

Private William Stewart Liddell, 1st/12th Battalion, Royal Scots. He was killed in action in France on 10th May 1917 during the Battle of Arras, aged 23. He was the son of Robert and Mary Liddell of Margaret Cottages , Blackburn, Bathgate and is buried in Fauberg D'Amiens Cemetery, Arras, France. He fell in the fighting north of the Scarpe where attempts were made to allow part of 6th K.O.S.B.who had been cut off to return to British lines. This attempt was successful but cost the Battalion 1 Officer and 121 Other Ranks.
