Private Thomas Gray

Private Thomas Bickerton Gray, 2nd Battalion, Seaforth Highlanders. He was killed in action in France on 11th April 1917 during the Battle of Arras and is buried in Brown’s Copse Cemetery, Roeux, Arras.  He was the only son of Mr and Mrs J. K. Gray of Tweedmouth and had enlisted in September 1914. His Battalion was part of the 4th Division and the fight to capture the strongly held village of Roeux involved very fierce and confused fighting as the village was built on a series of deep caves.
