Private Robert Wastle

Private Robert Thompson Wastle, Canadian Light Infantry. He died in Westbourne, Manitoba, Canada in 1920 aged 40. He had been born in 1880 but in 1889 the family had emigrated to Canada. His father Mr Wastle had carried on a shoemaking business in Tweedmouth prior to emigrating to Winnipeg. He had enlisted in May 1915 and was sent to France  in late 1915. In October 1917 he had leave and visited family friends in the Free Trade Inn, Castlegate, Berwick.
