Private Mark Richardson

Private Mark Cockburn Richardson, 21st ( 2nd Tyneside Scottish ) Battalion, Northumberland Fusiliers. He was killed in France on 14th September 1916 during the Battle of the Somme and is buried in Ration Farm Military, La Chapelle-D’ Armentieres, Nord, France. At that time the Battalion were holding front line trenches in the Armentieres sector. He had enlisted in Berwick. The photos show British troops on the Somme and the colour image shows a peaceful Somme landscape today with ” no gas, no barbed wire, no guns firing now”.
