Private John Younger

Private John Younger, 1st Battalion, Kings Own Scottish Borderers. He was killed in action in France on 14th April 1917 during the Battle of Arras and is commemorated on the Arras Memorial, Arras, France. He was a native of Tweedmouth and had enlisted at the K.O.S.B. Depot in Berwick. At that time the Battalion held frontline trenches near the key position of Monchy and were subjected to constant shelling and sniping and 8 casualties were suffered on 14th April.
