Rifleman John Straffen, 19th Battalion, Kings Royal Rifle Corps. He was killed in actrion in France on 15th September 1916 during the Battle of the Somme and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, Thiepval, Somme, France. He fell in the fierce fighting at Flers and Gueudecourt where the first use of Tanks helped the attacking troops gain their Objectives.
