Private John Evans, 24th Battalion, ( Tyneside Irish ), Northumberland Fusiliers. He was killed in action in France on 9th April 1917 on the first day of the Battle of Arras and is buried in Bailleul Road East Cemetery, St Laurent- Blangy, Arras, France. Before enlisting he had worked in Messrs Allan Bros. sawmill.
