Private James A. Tennant, 15th ( Service ) Battalion, Royal Scots.He was killed in action in France on 26th August 1917 and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, Thiepval, Somme, France. He fell in the assault from Hargicourt on the German positions at ” Railway Farm ” The position was captured, lost and recaptured again. Next day the Battalion was relieved by the 9th ( Service ) Battalion, Northumberland Fusiliers. Casualties as ever were not light and 197 Officers and men were killed wounded or missing.
