Private James Gray

Private James Gray, 14th ( Service ) Battalion, Northumberland Fusiliers. He was a Battalion signaller and was  killed by a sniper in France on the 27th May 1918. He was the son of Mr and Mrs Gray of Seton House, West End, Tweedmouth and is buried in Jonchery-Sur-Vesle British Cemetery, Marne, France. His parents were informed of his death in a letter from their son-in-law Lance Corporal Pilmer who was with him at the time. Before enlisting in 1915 he had been employed as a gardener by Mr Anderson of East Ord. His brother George had already fallen in 1915.
