Captain Edward Elliot

Captain Edward John Elliot, M.I.D., Royal Army Medical Corps. He was based at the 10th Stationary Hospital and was killed in an air raid on his hospital at St. Omer, France on 23rd May 1918, aged 37. He had been born in Castleton, Roxburghshire was the son of the late John Elliot of Binks, Roxburghshire and the husband of Dorothy Alin Elliot of ” Osmington “, Canada Grove, Bognor, Sussex. He is buried in Longuenesse ( St Omer ) Souvenir Cemetery, St Omer, Pas de Calais, France. He had been educated in Edinburgh at George Watsons College and then Edinburgh University where he studied medicine and graduated M.B., Ch.B. in 1904. The joined the R.A.M.C. and was promoted Captain in July 1910. He had been mentioned in despatches in January 1916.
