Private Archibald Dinwiddie

Private Archibald Hutton Dinwiddie, 7th ( Service ) Battalion, Cameron Highlanders. He was killed in action, aged 19, in France on 14th October 1917. He was the son of the Reverend A. H. Dinwiddie of The Manse, Teviothead and is commemorated on the Arras Memorial, Arras, France. His father had received a letter from his Captain telling him that he had fallen during a trench raid on German front line trenches where he was one of the volunteers. He had been born in Teviothead and had enlisted in Hawick. Before enlisting he had been employed in the law office of  Messrs Haddon & Turnbull, Hawick.
