Private William Trotter

Private William McIntosh Trotter, 3rd Battalion ( Toronto Regiment ) 1st Canadians. He was killed in action in France on 3rd June 1915 aged 35. He was the husband of Grace Trotter of Grindon, Norham, Northumberland and is commemorated on the Canadian Memorial at Vimy Ridge, France. He fell in the failed attack on Givenchy-En-Gohelle where the Battalion took heavy casualties. Before emigrating to Canada in 1910  he had worked as a miner at Scremerston. colliery.  After emigrating to Canada in 1910I he enlisted in September 1914 and was posted to France with his Battalion in early 1915.
