Major William Swinton

Major William Bentinck Swinton, Madras Light Cavalry. He died in India on 4th June 1876 after a fall from his horse and is buried in Secunderabad, India. He was born on 20th September 1835 and was married to Edith Swinton ( nee Cadell ) who died in 1922 and there is a plaque to her on the wall of Swinton Kirk. ( There is a single plaque on the wall of Swinton Kirk to William, George and Robert Swinton , all of whom died in the service of their country ).
