Captain S. Swinton

Captain S.G.A. Swinton, 8th Bengal Light Cavalry. He died at Umballah, India on 22nd June 1858 and is buried there. He died during the Indian Mutiny which took place between 1857 and 1859. There were eight regiments of Bengal Light Cavalry which were all British officered. All these Regiments mutinied and were disbanded in 1858 with the Officers joining the new 1st Bengal European Light Cavalry. Eventualy this Regiment became the 19th Hussars as part of the British Army.
