Private James Patterson

Private James Patterson, 2nd/5th ( Territorial ) Battalion, Kings Own Scottish Borderers. He died at Home on 3rd October 1916, aged 33, and is buried in Sprouston Parish Churchyard. He was the son of William and Agnes Patterson of Cessford Cottages, Sprouston, Kelso. He had been employed as a slater before enlisting in November 1914. However he was discharged from the Army in August 1916 suffering from tuberculosis. His Headstone is inscribed ” Beloved Son Of William & Agnes Patterson Sprouston “.
