Private Thomas Robson

Private Thomas Laing Robson. 16th ( Service ) Battalion, Northumberland Fusiliers. He was killed in action in France on 11th April 1917 during the Battle of Arras and is buried in Savy British Cemetery, Aisne, France. He fell in the capture and subsequent defence of the village of Savy. 16th Battalion N.F. was raised as a ” Pals ” Battalion  by the Newcastle Board of Trade and Commerce and was generally known as the ” Newcastle Commercials “. He had been born in Wooler and had enlisted in Berwick-upon-Tweed. The photographs show troops during the Battle.
