Private John Thomson, Kings Own Scottish Borderers. He died of pneumonia, aged 20, in the 23rd Scottish Military Hospital on 25th December 1939 whilst in training. He had been born in Hawick an was the son of Mr and Mrs John Thomson of Whitton, Morebattle and is buried in Morebattle Churchyard. Before enlisting he had been employed as a farm worker.
