Second Lieutenant Thomas Ross

Second Lieutenant Thomas Stewart Ross, 1st Battalion, Cameron Highlanders. He died in France on 13th November 1918  of wounds received in action during the ” Advance to Victory ” aged 18, two days after the Armistice. He had been born in Maxton and was the son of Richard and Emily Ross . He is buried in Premont British Cemetery., Aisne, France. His brothers Richard and James also fell ( see above for details ). Like his brothers he had been educated at Fettes College, Edinburgh before enlisting as a Private in the H. L. I.  From there he was commissioned into the Camerons. His Headstone is inscribed ” Youngest Son Of Richard Ross Rutherford, Maxton, Scotland”. The photographs show Allied troops pursuing the retreating German army.
