Private Thomas Mabon

Private Thomas Jamieson Mabon, Royal Scots. ( The C.W.G.C. site has his Unit as 10th ( Service ) Battalion, Cameronians ). He was killed in action in France on 28th March 1918, aged 26, during the German March Offensive and is commemorated on the Arras Memorial, Arras, France. He was the son of Archibald and Jane Mabon of Ledgerwood and Airhouse, Oxton, Berwickshire. He was born in Cavers, Roxburgshire, enlisted in Leith and lived at Haymount Farm near Kelso where he was employed before enlisting in June 1915 . He had originally enlisted in the Royal Scots but had transferred into the Cameronians in France. The photographs show Allied troops preparing to resist the on coming Germans.
