Private W. Smith, 1st Battalion, Northamptonshire Regiment. He was killed in action in France on 20th April 1918 during the German Offensive on the River Lys and is buried in Post Office Rifles Cemetery, Festubert, France. The photos show Allied troops in defensive positions.
