Lieutenant Alexander Holme

Lieutenant Alexander Charles Holme, 1st Battalion, Gloucester Regiment attached to 3rd Nigeria Regiment, West Africa Frontier Force aged 25. He was a Regular soldier and the son of Charles and Eva Home of Rawburn, Duns. He had been educated at Charterhouse School and was commissioned from Sandhurst in 1909.  He had served in Southern Nigeria where he was attached to the W.A.F.F. He fell on 6th September 1914  fighting  the Germans in German South West Africa and is buried in the Limbe Botanical Gardens Burial Ground, Cameroon. His brother also fell ( see Ronald Holme )
