Private James Turner

Private James Turner, 6th Battalion, Kings Own Scottish Borderers. He was killed in action in Holland on 23rd September 1944 aged 28. He was the grandson of Mrs Turner of Beechwood, Lilliesleaf and is buried in Mierlo War Cemetery, Noord-Brabant, Netherlands. At that time the Battalion was in action in the Best Area where they encountered heavy opposition and suffered some casualties including the C.O. of “D” Coy. Major Edward D’ Ewes Coke who was killed whilst clearing some farm buildings. The photos show Borderers in Holland in 1944.
