Private Frank Turnbull

Private Frank Turnbull, 2nd Battalion King’s Shropshire Light Infantry, late of the Lothians and Borders Horse. He died on Active Service in Salonica on 30th September 1918, aged 26 and is buried in Doiran Military Cemetery in northern Greece. He had been born in Castleton was the son of James and Betsy Turnbull of Satchells, Lilliesleaf, Roxburghshire. He had originally enlisted in the Lothian and Border Horse before transferring to the Royal Scots and being posted to Salonica in 1916 where he was posted to the K.S.L.I. He died from pneumonia in the 25th Casualty Clearing Station at Doiran.
