Pilot Officer William Charters

Pilot Officer William Charters, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. He was lost on Air Operations with 206 Squadron R.A.F. on 2nd December 1944, aged 32. He was the son of John and Helen Charters of Newcastleton and is Commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial. The Squadron was part of Coastal Command and at that time flew the Consolidated B24 Liberator from R.A.F. Leuchars on anti submarine and patrol duties over Norwegian waters.
