Private Robert Scott

Private Robert Scott, 1st Battalion, Cameronians ( Scottish Rifles ). He died in Belgium on 13th April 1918, aged 32, of wounds suffered in action during the German Spring Offensive on the River Lys. .He had been born in Eskdalemuir and was the of Agnes  and the late Robert Scott of Townhead, Newcastleton and is commemorated on the Ploegsteert Memorial, Flanders, Belgium. Before enlisting he had been employed as a forester. The photos show Allied troops in defensive positions.
