Private George Scott

Private George Bruce Scott, 11th ( Service ) Battalion, Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders. He was killed in action in France on 26th September 1915, aged 20, on the second day of the Battle of Loos. He was the son of William and Agnes Kemp Scott of Old Braidlee, Newcastleton and is commemorated on the Loos Memorial, Dud Corner, Loos, France. He had been born in Selkirk, lived in Newcastleton and had enlisted in Hawick. The first photo shows Scottish troops marching up to the line before the Battle and the second shows the village of Loos after its capture.
