Sergeant Robert John Renton, 2nd Battalion, Seaforth Highlanders. He was killed in action in Egypt on 3rd November 1942 during the second Battle of El Alamein, aged 24. He was the son of Thomas Borthwick and Jeannie Blair Renton of Coldstream and is buried in El Alamein War Cemetery , Egypt. The photographs were taken during the Battle.
