Private Thomas Dickson

Private Thomas Rutherford Dickson, 2nd Battalion, Scots Guards. He was killed in action on 29th September 1915  holding trenches near the “Chalk Pit” during the Battle of Loos, aged 33. He had been born in Lauder and was the son of Mrs Violet Dickson of “Te Alto”, Morebattle and is commemorated on the Loos Memorial, Dud Corner, Loos, France. He had been a Regular Soldier and had fought in the Anglo-Boer War. As a reservist he was recalled to his old Regiment on the outbreak of War. His late father John had been a joiner in Lauder.
