Private Ian Monro

Private Ian Robert Monro, 9th Battalion, Cameronians. He was killed in action in Normandy on 11th July 1944, aged 20. He had been born in Lauder and was the son of Robert and Margaret Monro of Lauder and is buried Sr Manvieu War Cemetery, Cheux, Calvados, France. He had originally enlisted in the Royal Scots in 1941 but had been posted to the Cameronians. He was fatally wounded during the liberation of Eterville near Caen.
