Fusilier Walter George McGregor, 9th Battalion, Royal Northumberland Fusiliers. He died in Thailand on 15th December 1943 whilst a Prisoner of War of the Japanese, aged 24. He was the son of Walter and Isabella McGregor and the husband of Dorothy McGregor of Green Hammerton, Yorkshire. He was captured at the fall of Singapore in February 1942 and died whilst being forced to work on the notorious Burma- Siam Railway line. He is commemorated on the Kanchanburi War Cemetery, Thailand.
