Second Lieutenant Norman Hunter

Second Lieutenant Norman Archbold Hunter,  “A” Coy., 26th Battalion, ( 3rd Tyneside Irish), Northumberland Fusiliers. He was killed in action in France on 3rd September 1917 during the Third Battle of Ypres, aged 22. He was the son of Andrew and Rachel Hunter of Milfield, Wooler and is buried in Hargicourt British Cemetery. His Headstone is inscribed ” Faithful Unto Death “. He and Second Lieutenant H.P. Dixon fell in the attack on “Triangle Trench” . 7 Other Ranks were also killed and 9 were wounded.
