Lance Corporal Thomas Young

Lance Corporal Thomas James Broomfield Young, 1st Battalion, Scots Guards. He died in France on 4th April 1918, aged 19, of wounds received in action during the German Spring Offensive. He was the son of Mrs and the late William Young of Eckford, Roxburghshire and Belmont Place, Kelso and is buried in Doullens Communal Cemetery Extension No. 1.  Before enlisting he had been employed by the Kelso Gas Company. The photographs show Allied troops in rather makeshift defences awaiting further German advances.
