Lance Corporal Patrick Lynch

Lance Corporal Patrick Joseph Lynch. 2nd Battalion, Cameronians. He was killed in action in France, aged 23, on the 21st April 1917 and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France. He had been born in Kelso in 1894 and was the son of Stephen and Margaret Lynch of Mill Wynd, Kelso.  In 1912 he had enlisted as a Regular soldier in the 2nd Battalion Kings Own Scottish Borderers and in 1914 was stationed in Ireland.  He went to France in August 1914 and was wounded in May 1915. Upon recovery he was posted to the 6th Battalion, K.O.S.B. before being transferred to the Cameronians in November 1916.
