Private Joseph Quarry, Royal Army Medical Corps. He died on Active Service in Malta on 6th September 1915, aged 19 and is buried in Pieta Military Cemetery, Malta. He was the son of George and Charlotte Quarry of Makerstoun and Orchardmains, Innerleithen and was a native of Makerstoun, Kelso. He had been aboard the hospital Ship ” Salta” at the Dardanelles when he contracted Dysentery and died in hospital in Malta.
