Second Lieutenant John Hogarth

Second Lieutenant John Scott Hogarth, 4th Battalion, Kings Own Scottish Borderers. He was killed in France on the 25th March 1917. aged 19. He was the son of Mary and the late John Hogarth of Galalaw, Kelso and was a native of Maxwellheugh, Kelso. He is buried in Ecoivres Military Cemetery, Mont-St.Eloi, Pas de Calais, France. His Headstone is inscribed ” Until The Resurrection”. He had originally enlisted in the Lothian and Border Horse but was commissioned into the 4th K.O.S.B in December 1915 and posted to the 2nd Battalion K.O.S.B. in France in October 1916. ( At that time the 1st/4th K.O.S.B was in Palestine ).
