Private John Gleed

Private John Gleed, 13th Battalion, Australian Infantry. He was killed in France on 4th February 1917, aged 30. He was the son of Mark and Jemima Gleed of Hendersyde Park, Kelso and is commemorated on the Villers Bretonneux Memorial, Guedecourt, Somme, France. Before enlisting in Australia on 10th January 1916 he had been employed as a coach builder in Randwick, New South Wales. He had sailed for France on 3rd May 1916 aboard the H.M.A.T ” Clan MacGillveray “.
