Private James Ker

Private James Ker,  “A”Coy., 6th Battalion, Kings Own Scottish Borderers. He was killed by enemy action in England on 18th November 1940, aged 21. He was the son of James and Elizabeth Ker of Kelso and is buried in Kelso Churchyard.  The Battalion was billeted at Theydon Bois, Essex during the London Blitz when two platoon billets of “A” Coy. were hit by a German Landmine. 30 men were killed and a further 30 wounded. His Headstone is inscribed ” At The Going Down Of The Sun And In The Morning We Will Remember Them”.
